NeoOrganic: Small Batches, Big Impact
The Roots of NeoOrganic
Founded in 2017, NeoOrganic was born out of a deep-rooted passion for plants and herbs, inspired by co-founder Sandra Moskova's Bulgarian heritage. Drawing from family traditions, including her grandmother’s knowledge of remedies, NeoOrganic started with three signature products: cold-pressed rosehip oil, Bulgarian lavender oil, and mountain tea (Sideritis Scardica) from the cliffs of Trigrad.
NeoOrganic produces over 35 organic essential oils, cold-pressed oils, hydrolats, and teas at their Berlin Neukölln lab, where they also craft blends like roll-ons, massage oils, and aroma sprays. Despite their growth, NeoOrganic remains a small operation, with a team of three to six dedicated individuals. Each team member has specific roles, ensuring that every step—from crafting to labeling—is done in-house with care and precision.
Sustainability at the Heart
Sustainability drives NeoOrganic’s commitment to ethical practices across every aspect of their operations. By working directly with organic-certified farms and cooperatives, such as a women’s collective in Morocco, the company ensures fair working conditions and superior quality while eliminating middlemen. Beyond sourcing, NeoOrganic fosters a work culture of care and respect, reflecting the same values they dedicate to their products and partners. “Sustainability isn’t just about the environment,” says Sandra. “It’s about creating a living reality where everyone involved—from farmers to employees—is treated with respect and fairness.”
The Art of Small-Batch Excellence
At NeoOrganic, small-batch production ensures freshness, quality, and meticulous standards in every drop. Customers appreciate this commitment, often expressing admiration for the authenticity and craftsmanship behind NeoOrganic’s products. “Our customers value seeing the hands-on work—like labeling bottles or assembling packages manually,” shares Sandra. “It’s rare in a world dominated by mass production.”
A Partnership with Purpose:
Calaso’s Glass Packaging
NeoOrganic’s collaboration with Calaso underscores their shared values of quality and sustainability. For the past three years, NeoOrganic has relied on Calaso’s premium glass packaging to protect and showcase their products. Calaso’s durable, elegant bottles perfectly complement NeoOrganic’s premium oils. “In our eyes, the packaging should be as minimalistic as possible, allowing the product to speak for itself. That is why Calaso is the optimum choice: sustainability, classy and shedding the right light on our product” shares Sandra.
“The colour and form of the bottles, combined with their durability, make them ideal for preserving essential oils,” explains Sandra. “We specifically chose Calaso for their commitment to quality and transparency in EU production.”
Flexible order quantities have also been crucial for NeoOrganic. As a small business, the ability to purchase packaging in manageable quantities helps them maintain their production model without compromising quality. In addition, the packaging “are not easy to break, which is crucial when a customer drops something as delicate and highly concentrated as essential oils.”
Insights for the Industry
Sandra’s advice to other brands in the organic market is simple yet profound: “Don’t compromise on your values. Let your product speak for itself, and ensure packaging enhances the story without overshadowing it.”
Despite challenges in competing with mass-produced alternatives, NeoOrganic remains optimistic. “I believe, that mass-produced unsustainable packaging will prevail. Brands are selling the ‘organic’ values rather than living them.” Sandra shares. “We hope that consumers will continue to support authentic, sustainable brands like ours.”
